Just received this today. My 15.6" laptop is 15" long by 10" wide. It fits in the adjustable padded laptop "pocket", and sticks up about two inches beyond the top. Not a problem, as long as the top of the bag is not crushed. I might use a piece of bubble wrap to protect the top, but that's just paranoid me. But, I doubt a full 17" (diagonal screen) laptop would fit well ... maybe 16 inches tops?
Great bag, heavy duty construction, room for the computer, power cords, back-up hard drive, folders, a couple of books, MP3 player, camera, my usual travel stuff. Nice pen/office supply pocket, MP3 player pocket with port for ear-phones, side pocket, cell phone bag on shoulder strap is a nice unexpected feature.
Too many un-needed straps .... the waist strap can be tucked into a sleeve, but the shoulder / chest strap will just hang (or get cut off , but I'll wait and see). The "rain coat" provides extra padding for the bottom when not in use, and, LOL, it is bright yellow as all raincoats should be (?) !!!! When in use, it is attached so can't get lost. The zipper of laptop pocket has a rain edge, but if the fabric is not water proof, not of much value.
Overall, great bag, far superior to the Wenger Swiss Gear bags that do not seem to accomodate larger computers, IMHO. Great price from Amazon / Luggage Guru, and aside from holiday delays, and weather delays stranding this one in Nebraska for an extra day, great service.
This bag is not light - it has some heft, which provides confidence it will protect the PC as intended.
Can't go wrong with this one.Get more detail about High Sierra Access Backpack.
